Lucelia Lopez Fortes aka “LL” aka #nofilter is a 5’8″ post born in Portugal who at the age of 5 moved to London. Lucelia began playing basketball at the age of 13. In 2003 she was a part of the championship team in the U14 Haringey Basketball League being named the Most Improved Player. After taking a hiatus from the sport, she was reunited with her love of basketball while studying at the university of Surrey and with the passion revived she has never looked back joining the Soul Squad in 2014.
Since joining Soul, Lucelia has been a dominant force on the court… that is when she is not fouling people. Lucelia’s size and strength makes her a threat at both ends of the court. Offensively her patience and high basketball IQ make her unstoppable. While on defence her quickness and athleticism allows her to shut anyone down who tries to enter the key.
According to her team mates when she isn’t blocking the offence, she’s causing offence (the exact details of this statement are still unknown). That being said Lucelia is an incredible asset to the team not just on the court, but also off the court. With a never ending supply of food (including vegetarian scotch eggs! and tropical flavoured liquids), she ensures her teammates (and herself) are fully nourished for the battles on court.
Outside of basketball Lucelia has a career as a bank assistant at SG Hambros Bank. Although it has been rumoured that she doesn’t speak while at work, the Soul women know a different story often listening to Lucelia for hours on end.
Although not one to boast Lucelia has many secret talents that include – sleeping, hula hooping, skipping and swimming (for which she still has the certificates).
