Rouguy Toure

Rouguy ‘Gazelle’ Toure, originally from Lyon, France moved to London in 2011 to seek new challenges.

Her journey with basketball started soon after she was able to run, at the age of eight and lasted until the time of high school when… well, it was the time to discover other joys of the life. Before that however, Rouguy and her team came in first in the regional basketball league and appeared in a local newspaper.

Rouguy was reunited with basketball when she joined Soul at the end of 2013 and has been swiftly running for the team since. Whether it is thanks to her Guinean roots or long legs, this girl can run and will use all possible opportunities to do so.

Outrunning the opponent down the court to score the fast bucket is one of her personal favourites. She is not afraid of any defensive setup and enjoys sneaky lay ups with a big smile on her face.

Despite her claiming that she is not that fast, there were several occasions when she made point guards looking lost on the court.

On defence, well don’t worry about turning around on the fast break to see where she is because by the time you start your layup she will be in front of you! Basically, she will be in your face all the time… and she will always find you. Worse, or better than your shadow really.

Graceful runs at crazy mph speed earned her the nickname of the Gazelle.

When Rouguy isn’t chasing the ball or poor opponents she likes to dine out with friends, shake her booty to good tunes or relax whilst listening to music and to watch movies.

She just really is as cool as all of the Soul fam!
